Dr Smart K B
Dr Smart K. B. is a Physical Oceanographer and Postdoctoral Researcher at the Advanced Centre for Atmospheric Radar Research (ACARR), Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT). A pioneer in planetary oceanography within Indian academia, he studies the subsurface oceans and exospheres of natural satellites such as Europa. He authored "Planetary Oceans: Emerging Perspectives" and completed his doctorate at Cochin University of Science and Technology in collaboration with the Physical Research Laboratory (PRL). He founded the Organisation for Earth and Planetary Informatics and developed RiverineGIS, a web-based geospatial framework mapping Kerala's forty-four rivers (http://orgin.in). As a science communicator and former editor at Science India magazine, Dr. Smart has written extensively on river conservation and planetary atmospheres. He has organised national seminars and exhibitions, including Swasraya Bharath, and coordinated large-scale science competitions alongside open-source GIS workshops.
